Dr. Naveen Gakhar
Veterinarian & Practice Owner
Dr. Naveen Gakhar earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the College of Veterinary Sciences at Punjab Agricultural University in India and later completed a Master’s degree in Animal Nutrition at the University of Manitoba. He began his career as a mixed animal practitioner in India, gaining five years of hands-on experience before moving to Canada in 2006.
Dr. Gakhar has worked in small animal practice in British Columbia and Edmonton, including time at Sunrise Animal Hospital, before taking ownership of the clinic in 2016. His professional interests include small animal internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, emergency medicine, and critical care. He is a member of both the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Gakhar lives in Edmonton with his wife and son. He enjoys travelling, sports, music, and spending time with his family.
Dr. Hardeep Singh
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Hardeep Singh graduated from SKUAST-J in India in 2018. After moving to Edmonton in 2021, he joined Sunrise Animal Hospital in April 2022. He has a strong interest in small animal internal medicine and surgery, with a particular fondness for feline patients.
Dr. Singh is a member of both the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association. Known for his approachable demeanour and attention to detail, he enjoys building connections with clients while providing thoughtful care for their pets.
When he’s not at the clinic, Dr. Singh enjoys spending time with friends and family—and is well known for his colourful sock collection, which reflects his lighthearted sense of humour.
